Commissioner Sally Snyder is a long-time healthcare professional who oversaw the Irvine Unified School District health program for 12 years and continues her relationship with the school district today as a health services consultant.

Ms. Snyder was involved with the Children and Families Commission before her 2001 appointment as commissioner, serving as a member of the Proposition 10 Technical Advisory Committee. In that capacity, she joined other committee members in reviewing and identifying programs for funding consideration by the Commission.

As a commissioner, Ms. Snyder has focused her efforts on expanding opportunities to include health professionals in school readiness centers and teen pregnancy/teen parenting programs in order to add another dimension of experience to these crucial programs.

Ms. Snyder is a graduate of Ball State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in nursing. Over her career, she has been active in a number of professional and volunteer health organizations including the National Association of School Nurses, the American School Health Association, and the California and Orange County school nurse organizations. She was named Orange County Outstanding School Nurse Administrator in 1997. Ms. Snyder has also been a board member of the Irvine chapter of the American Cancer Society since 1995.
